Back to March 2023

Letter from the Publisher

Dear Pecan South Readers,

Another pecan harvest has finished in the United States; for many, it was not the things dreams are made of. Some saw a good year, but many others are glad to see 2022 behind them.

However, as a new growing season emerges and the industry starts to gather at conferences in the United States, I am sure there will be a lot to discuss between last year’s rough times and more positive events like the reduction of the tariff for pecans exported to India from the United States. At the same time, growers in the Southern Hemisphere inch closer to harvest and are hopeful for a good year. Pecans continue to be a worldwide crop and business, in both growing and selling, and Pecan South reflects the industry.

March is always a positive start for us here at Pecan South. This issue starts a new volume, our 56th, and allows us more opportunities to service and reflect the pecan industry. We are honored to be a part of this unique industry and serve those in agriculture. Pecan South continues to improve and add new features. Our website means you have a pecan encyclopedia at your disposal with research, history, and more at your fingertips and included in your subscription. If you have not already signed up for an online account, be sure to do so for this valuable resource. Our regular newsletters and social media accounts also keep you up-to-date and give you a chance to interact with the industry. Keep up on your pecan knowledge each month through print and online because we are always adding contributors and advertisers who offer their expertise, products, and services to the industry.

Lastly, National Pecan Day is coming up on April 14, and we honor you with the third edition of Pieces of Pecan magazine! This consumer-focused magazine about pecans has nutrition information, farmers’ stories, and recipes for you to use in your business. The digital edition is free to use from our website, and print copies are available at cost. We created this spectacular tool for you and the industry we are a part of!

As always, we are here to serve you and the pecan industry. We hope to see you soon, as another year of your pecan publication starts!

Sincerely,

Blair Krebs
