Scenes from the 2024 Georgia Pecan Growers Association Conference

The Georgia Pecan Growers Association hosted its 59th annual Educational Conference and Trade Show at the Georgia National Fairgrounds in Perry, Georgia, from March 19 to 21. GPGA kicked off the first day with a golf tournament, skeet shoot tournament, and welcome reception.

On March 20, conference attendees and vendors gathered at the Georgia National Fairgrounds for a jam-packed day, during which participants networked, heard from presenters, and spoke with exhibitors. Talks spanned a variety of topics, including a pecan production course, a discussion on the future of pecan fungicides, a presentation on post-harvest control of inshell pecan weevil larvae, and updates from the APC, APPB, and Georgia Pecan Commission. During the Association’s Award Banquet, GPGA also recognized Randy Hudson with a Lifetime Achievement Award, Justin Jones with Grower of the Year, and the Buchanan family with the Jack Thompson Memorial Award.

The conference wrapped up on March 21 with an orchard tour hosted by Ellis Bros Pecans in Vienna, Georgia. Visitors heard from Brad Ellis about the family’s farm and toured the retail store and cleaning plant.
