USDA Releases Report for 2023 Pecan Crop

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has released its Noncitrus Fruits and Nuts Summary for the 2023 crop. This annual report provides “preliminary and annual summaries of acreage, yield, production, use, price and value by states of the noncitrus fruit and nut crop by state.” The data is gathered through monthly and annual grower surveys.
According to this Summary, tree nuts saw a slight increase in total utilized production in the United States. The value of utilized production for tree nuts also increased by 26% this past crop year.

USDA NASS reports that the United States produced 306.75 million pounds of pecans, compared to 288.350 and 266.15 million pounds in 2022 and 2021 respectively.

Noncitrus Fruits and Nuts 2023 Summary also shares the price per pound for the three most recent crop years. According to this report, the average price for pecans is $1.68 per pound in 2023, compared to $1.80 per pound in 2022 and $2.16 per pound in 2021.
