APC Announces 2020 Election Results

Logo for the American Pecans marketing brand. It reads: American Pecans: The Original Supernut. The brand is promoted and managed by the American Pecan Council, under a federal marketing order. Pecan growers in the U.S. can vote to continue the APC in the 2021 FMO referendum.
The American Pecan Council (APC) announced the results for its 2020 Election on the evening of Sept. 1 via an emailed memo. This election marks the first since the start of the Federal Marketing Order. As required by the Order, all Council positions were up for nomination and election.

Following the guidelines set forth by the Federal Marketing Order, future elections will be held every two years for half of the Council. In other words, half of the Council positions will be up for election in 2022, while the other half will face election in 2024.

“A special thank you for those that ran for office, and congratulations to those that have been selected to serve on the American Pecan Council,” APC Executive Director Alexander Ott wrote in the memo. “We will be holding a Council meeting with the new Council on Oct. 1, 2020. The purpose of the meeting will be to nominate members for the accumulator and public member positions. Additionally, nominations will be accepted for Council vacancy positions and nominations and selection of officers.”
