Dear Readers,

The holidays always bring forth a time of reflection on our lives, our work, and our future. We cherish moments of joy and fun while celebrating the obstacles we overcame and contemplating the challenges we faced.

Harvest continues this December throughout the Pecan Belt, and as an industry, we look back on all the good and bad that 2023 brought. The articles in this month’s Pecan South range from new studies to industry updates to reflections on crop estimates.

As we close out 2023, I want to remind you of our 6th Annual Harvest Photo Contest. There’s still time to submit a photo! If you’re worried about photo size or resolution, most photos taken on a cell phone meet our requirements. If you’re still unsure, send me an email or give me a call; I’d be happy. The deadline for entries is Jan. 11, 2024. Learn more on page 30.
